Babak Somekh is a Lecturer in the Bert W. Wasserman Department of Economics and Finance at the Zicklin School of Business, Baruch College, CUNY.

He earned his PhD in Economics from the University of Oxford, where he also completed an MPhil in Economics. Prior to his studies at Oxford, he received an MA in Economics from New York University, where he also earned a BS in Economics and Information Systems.

His areas of expertise span the economics of inequality, finance, and economics pedagogy — the third reflecting his sustained interest in how to teach introductory macroeconomics well to large, mixed-major undergraduate audiences.

He teaches in the ECO 1002 introductory macroeconomics program.
